I don't think I would get much push back if I made the bold statement that "the majority of accountants don't like the idea of sales and marketing".
However, I think I would probably get similar reaction to the statement that the majority of accountants understand that "marketing your practice more efficiently" would be beneficial and make commecial sense.
Here's a challenge to prove the point, look on your bookshelves, how many books or articles do you have on marketing your services, which never get opened, and how many good intentions have you had to start a marketing campaign which never got off the ground? If this is you, don't commit yourself to sack cloth and ashes just yet!
